Engine 2 made sure EMS would be able to complete the medical before clearing and responding to the fire. Shepherds Engine 3 also responded to Rustic. Chief 1200 (Weatherman) advised of heavy smoke visible from Hwy 3. Moments later 1200 arrived on scene of a 100 x 100 barn that was fully involved and on the ground with command being established. Rustic command then advised ECOM to have Shepherds large tanker dispatched (Engine 3 which was already responding) as well as Lake Norman's large tanker along with a tanker from Odell Fire. Upon arrival of Shepherds command ordered Shepherds to secure a water point at a nearby pond to begin water shuttle operations. Shepherds Engine 3 arrived shortly after and began supplying water for suppression efforts along with providing personnel to assist with extinguishment. Shepherds units and personnel remained on location for approximately 2 hours before being released by command with thanks for setting up the water point for additional incoming tankers and suppression efforts.
