It's been a little over 2 weeks since a news incident has been posted but rest assured Shepherds has stayed busy conducting training, running the usual calls ranging from grass/woods fires, local medicals, AFA's, MVA & even a couple possible structure fires. @ 12:36 while the daytime staff was attempting to eat lunch when a MVA was toned out around the 900 block of River Hwy. Ironically the engine was eating at a restaurant which sat about 50 feet from where the MVA occurred. Engine 2 quickly arrived on location and found a 2 car MVA rear-end type collision. After investigating both parties were code 4 (denied transport/care) as Shepherds contained a small fluid leak before going available. @ 12:58 Shepherds along with Troutman were alerted to assist Mooresville Engine 2 on a MVA at the 36mm off ramp off of I-77. As Engine 2 checked responding they were quickly cancelled as EMS arrived on location and advised one Engine would be sufficient. @ 13:15 Mooresville Chief 2 radioed into ECOM on County Fire that they received a call public service from a resident who advised she had smoke coming possibly from her attic inside her residence and that same would be in Shepherds first due on Robinson Rd. Shepherds Engine 2 quickly checked responding from Perth Rd & River Hwy. Within minutes Engine 2 arrived on location of a 2 story residential brick structure with nothing evident as Chief 515 (Beauvais) established Robinson Rd command. After Engine 2's crew led by Capt 550 (Craver) went into the attic to investigate they found no signs of smoke or fire. The cause of this incident was a neighbor who was legally burning brush with the smoke from the fire entering through the homeowner's gable vents making them think their was a fire in their attic. Cancellation from mutual aid departments responding along with a control time was radioed in by command as Shepherds cleared a short time later.
