@13:14 As like any other Friday the daytime staff began the morning with daily truck checks and ensuring equipment was in working order. @ 08:37 Shepherds was dispatched to assist Sheriff's Office with gaining entry into a vehicle around the 2100 block of Charlotte Hwy. Engine 1 checked enroute, arrived on location & gained entry into the vehicle within 2 minutes and went available. @ 09:51 Shepherds was alerted to assist Troutman on a possible building fire around the 100 block of N.Main St. Chief 100 (A.Church) arrived on location of a one story laundromat with nothing evident. After a couple minutes of investigation command came back on the air advising to cancel any further as Troutman units could handle same. @ 11:35 Shepherds was alerted to a local medical and handled same with ease. After grabbing a bite to eat personnel were alerted to a grass fire threatening a nearby structure around the 100 block of Skylark Way. Capt 550 (J.Craver) arrived on location and advised of 1/2 acre involved at this time with several bystanders trying to put the fire out with a green line. Shepherds Engine 1 & Brush 1 arrived on location and began suppression efforts. Chief 500 (Robinson) arrived on scene and cancelled any further holding to 1 & 1. A control time was given within 12 minutes as units began picking up before clearing. The homeowner was very fortunate that the only damage done to the structure was held to the siding which began to deform from where the fire was impeding. Chief 500 cleared all units but stayed on scene for the arrival of NC Forestry.
