January 28, 2014

@ 06:51 With snow on the horizon set to arrive into Iredell County Shepherds started off the day with a local medical run in station 1's first due. Like normal Engine 1 responded, arrived, provided pt care and awaited for EMS to arrive on location before clearing a short time later. @ 09:35hrs Shepherds was alerted to a gun shot wound at River Park Apartments. Units staged until the scene was secure by local law enforcement and then went in to provide pt care. Due to the where the pt was shot Med Center Air was contacted for flight services and the LZ (Landing Zone) was established @ Big Daddy's restaurant. Shepherds & Mooresville fire units handled same with ease and all units were back in normal service within 30 minutes. As called on by local meteorologist the snow began to fall a little after 12:30hrs. As temperatures began to dip and the snow fall became heavier ECOM began toning out respective departments left and right to MVA's and other weather related calls. Within a span of 4 hours Shepherds was alerted to 4 different mva's (Property damage only) involving vehicles that were either overturned, on there side and one which damaged a structure. As nightfall settled in and side roads becoming ice rinks the calls ceased which allowed personnel to rest. On January 29 @ 02:13hrs Shepherds was alerted to assist Troutman on vehicle fire involving a box truck on I-77NB just north of the 42. ECOM advised units from the information they were gathering the truck would be fully involved. Minutes later Troutman Chief 100 & Engine 1 were responding. Chief 100 (A.Church) arrived on location and confirmed the fully involved box truck which contained paper items and various other combustibles. Personnel on scene began stretching and working to suppress same. With additional help needed Troutman along with Shepherds were toned out twice for an additional Tanker to the scene to assist with water. Shepherds Engine 3 along with Mooresville Engine 4 (Per special request of Chief 100) answered the call and arrived and assisted with extinguishment. All units and personnel were assignment complete within 2 and a half hours.
