Grass & Woods Fires

@ 02:29 With temperatures in the low teens and high wind gust Shepherds was alerted to assist Lake Norman with a grass and woods at Brawley School Rd @ Bay Harbour Rd. Lake Norman units were already on scene of a large 300 x 300 area involved and requested a Tanker from Mount Mourne and a Brush truck from Shepherds. Shepherds Brush 1 was responding to the location given minutes later. Upon arrival Shepherds assisted personnel and units with suppression. This task would be somewhat difficult as units had to work on two different roads to make viable access to the seed of the fire. A control time was issued @03:20 as personnel stayed on scene for an additional hour working on extinguishing several hot spots and making sure a rekindle would not occur. Chief 1103 (J.Miller) had Bay Harbour command & Shepherds was assignment complete and back in normal service @ 04:14. @ 12:55 Shepherds along with Troutman & Mooresville Engine 2 were alerted for a grass and woods fire on I-77NB @ the 38mm. Shortly after dispatch Troutman Engine 1, Brush 1 Shepherds Tanker 1, Brush 1 & Mooresville Engine 2 were all responding. ECOM alerted all units they were receiving multiple reports of several fire stretching from the 38mm all the way to the 42mm. Mooresville Engine 2 arrived on location at the first fire found at the 38mm with Engine 2 OIC (T.Sines) establishing command. Troutman Engine 1 & Brush 1 passed Engine 2 and went to the 2nd reported location of fire and began suppression efforts. Shepherds Tanker 1 stopped to assist Mooresville Engine 2 with the first fire but left shortly after to assist with the second fire which was quickly spreading due to wind gusts. After completely extinguishing the 1st fire Engine 2 went on to assist units on a 3rd fire found along the 42 with assistance from North Carolina Forestry. All 3 fires were put "Under Control" and all units/personnel were assignment complete @ 13:44.
