| Shepherds Fire-Rescue would like to thank former Deputy Fire Chief Jamie L Barrier for his commitment and dedication to the department for 30 years. Jamie joined Shepherds as junior Firefighter on January 12, 1983. During that time the only thing Jamie was allowed to do was simply observe and participate in drills and certain classes allowable for juniors to attend to until he reached the age of 18. It should also be noted that Jamie became friends with another fellow Junior Firefighter by the name of Kelly Robinson. Whether these two knew it or not they would both play a huge significant role in the upcoming later years for Shepherds. Jamie figured out that he wanted to and could do this for a career and on November 5th,1998 Jamie was hired at the Mooresville Fire Department. During this time Jamie achieved and obtained countless certifications that would be helpful and beneficial for both departments in areas including: Driver Operator, Pumps, FF 1 & 2, Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescue series, Fire Officer Level 1 & 2 & General Instructor. Jamie rose through the ranks in Mooresville going from Firefighter to Sr.Firefighter to Engineer to Captain and ultimately to his current position of (A-Shift) Battalion Chief. As for Shepherds Jamie became a Captain at the age of 23 where he held that position for approximately 4 years before the untimely death of Fire Chief Steve "Bosco" Alexander. This event would test the skills and friendships between Kelly & Jamie both as they had some pretty big shoes to fill for the department. But with the training and education both men received Shepherds Fire-Rescue would not be the department they are today. Jamie held the rank of Deputy Fire Chief also known as "Chief 510" for the next 13 years where he was over personnel and radios otherwise known as the "South-end radio man" who could fix just about any issues with pagers, mobiles, portables & the 800MHZ radio system used by the South end departments in Iredell County. So with that being said Shepherds Fire-Rescue would like to extend our deepest gratitude and thanks to Jamie Lee Barrier for the countless hours, classes, meetings, conferences, training, incidents and time away from your family that you have gave to this department for the last 30 years of your life. We wish you the best in future endeavors and nothing but happiness and success for your wife (Melody) and son (Landon). Thank you Chief we'll take it from here now. |
