@ 15:58 Shepherds along with Troutman, Lake Norman & Mooresville Engine 4 were alerted to a reported house fire around the 100 block of Roseland Ct. Minutes later Engine 4, Shepherds Engine 3 & Chief 500 (Robinson) were responding. Engine 4 & Engine 3 arrived on location and Engine 4 OIC (Parsons) reported nothing evident from a single story residential structure. As personnel began coming off the rigs they were met by the residents of the home who reported the house was full of smoke with a possible fire underneath the house. Engine 4 OIC opened the front door to the home and indeed encountered smoke inside declaring a "Working fire". Engine 3's operator (Chief 515 Beauvais) stretched out 2 25ft sections of 4'LDH tied into Engine 4 and secured a water supply. Engine 4's personnel stretched out one of the 200ft 1 3/4 pre-connect's to the rear of the structure and found a fire in the crawl space underneath the home and immediately began suppression efforts. OIC ordered for a vent saw to the front door to open the floor to expose any more fire. Engine 3 pulled off a secondary line to the front door with Chief 510 (Stutts) and crew to assist with any further suppression efforts. A control time was issued within 15 minutes. Chief 500 assumed command and released Troutman, Lake Norman and any other Shepherds apparatus with the exception of Shepherds Engine 3, 1 & Mooresville Engine 4. Personnel awaited for the arrival of Duke Power and American Red Cross. An EMS unit was also called in to evaluate one patient with possible smoke inhalation. All units were assignment complete & returned to service within 1 and a half hours.
