A storm had just passed as dense fog began to settle through out areas in Iredell County when the pre-alert sounded alerting Shepherds Fire and Mooresville Engine 4 for a MVA reported head on around the 2000 block of Statesville Hwy. Mooresville Engine 4 arrived on scene and advised he had a 3 car mva confirming the head on collision and would be checking on PI (Personal Injury) shortly. Shepherds Rescue 5 checked enroute and was on scene within minutes behind E4. 4A (Capt.Brawley) came back and advised ECOM he had 2 critical patients both entrapped and for ECOM to check on flight status and to add Mooresville Engine 1 (Manpower) on the call to assist. Crews on scene began working to free both patients. Due to weather conditions all flight services were grounded. It took about 10-15min to free the passenger and about 30-45min for the driver who once were free were transferred over to EMS personnel for further evaluation. Both patients were transported by ground to the nearest medical facility. Units stayed on the scene to assist NCSHP with investigation.
