By Asst. Chief Danny Beauvais
August 14, 2014

@ 19:09hrs Shepherds along with Engine 4 were alerted to a report of black smoke in the area around the 600 block of Rankinhill Rd. Shortly after dispatch Shepherds Engine 2 along with Mooresville Engine 4 were enroute. Minutes later Shepherds personnel advised that they could see black smoke from Judas Rd. There was a little difficulty in actually finding access to where exactly the smoke was coming from but multiple units were advising they had heavy black smoke pushing behind the tree lines. Moments later Shepherds 533 (D.Williamson) advised he was on location deep in the woods with a fully involved vehicle fire and that fire apparatus would not be able to access same. With that noted Troutman was requested to respond with a Tanker & Brush Truck. Shepherds Brush 1 was able to make access into same with a quick stop to pickup personnel off of Engine 4 to extinguish same. A control time was issued within 10 minutes as command cancelled Troutman Tanker 1 but kept their brush truck coming to assist with an additional water source. Command released Engine 4 along with Shepherds Engine's 2 & 3 shortly after and waited on location for ICSO to arrive to investigate the scene. Shepherds command was assignment complete @ 09:40hrs.
